Combat mechanics fall apart when there are too many enemies (think 6+), where the only viable strategy is to spam attacks and essence potions. Not really fun. Consider putting resurrection limits on boss enemies and make the harder fights less enemies, but higher level (buffed damage/defense). An alternative is to keep the hordes, but give us some defensive areas to funnel them into. (I played with a defender build, and parrying 6+ enemies is next to impossible, the moment your shield comes down, you’re down) Endgame spoiler:

Game mechanics shouldn’t be tweaked too much IMHO. It plays really well right now, especially since the combat is so good. Fully realize that this may mean a LOT of effort, but consider some non-humanoid enemies. More enemy moves to make them less predictable in combat, or maybe vary the speed of their attacks a little bit (higher level => more swing speed variability).
