Astral Chain is an action-adventure game in which the player controls one of several police officers – members of the Neuron special group – in the fictional metropolis of Ark. At the beginning of the Astral Chain, the player must choose one of the two twins – a brother or a sister – as a playable character; the second unselected twin also appears in the game as an NPC.

During the game, the character, as a police officer, must respond to incidents and conduct investigations – exploring the game world, interrogating NPCs and studying evidence, the player finds clues and puzzles that allow the current investigation to move forward. During the game, the police visit the “Astral Plane” – a parallel world in which the character must overcome all sorts of obstacles, solve puzzles and fight enemies, as in traditional dungeons in computer games.
